Mural 45

This mural was the winner of the 2008 New Zealand Mural festival. The theme for the festival was ‘Journeys’. Peter has captured the theme with an image of the ‘Lady Jocelyn’ sailing ship departing the port in Belfast, Ireland on it’s voyage to New Zealand. This is what would become the pioneers of Katikati, longest journey.

Peter has painted a number of other murals around Katikati, his first one was also a sailing ship Mary queen which brought the Macmillan family to New Zealand.
Artist, Peter Nicholson, enjoys painting landscapes, historical and maritime scenes, the latter the outcome of his love of the sea, ships and boats of every kind.
